NOBO is a program that detects Back Orifice (BO) packets in a Windows 95/98 machine. It opens the BO port and keeps waiting for any packet coming from BO clients. Once a packet is received, NOBO logs it with information about the sender (IP address and host name). NOBO can just ignore the packet or be configured to reply back with a message.

All activities -- all BO packets received -- can be stored in a log file as well for quick registry and reference.

What doesn't NOBO do?

  • NOBO doesn't remove Back Orifice. There are some programs which claims to remove BO floating arount the Internet. See the links page.
  • NOBO doesn't protect your machine against BO. Althought BO might not run if it try to listen on the port NOBO is listening on, it's possible to make it run listening in another port.
